| Innis & Gunn, Irish Whiskey Cask (Scotland) Suitably enough,
I&G's first Irish Whiskey cask-aged beer is a stout, matured for a couple of months in ex-Irish whiskey barrels. The beer pours a very dark, treacle brown with a tan-coloured, thick head. Initial aromas are
invitingly malty, chocolaty and deep, with roasted grain and coffee, and a hint of black fruits. In the mouth it is sweet to taste, a flood of malty, roasted flavours and a touch of whiskey character coming
through more as the beer builds on the mid-palate. Lots of bittersweet flavours into the finish, with chicory and liquorice playing against the alcohol which give a touch of heat and adds to the sweeter
impression too. It is long, smoothly chewy and satisfying in the finish. We might have preferred the sweetness notched back a little, but a fine and interesting beer. 7.4% ABV, 33cl, 2.19, Beersofeurope,
thefinewinecompany, Utobeer.
