A beer brewed in a disused milking parlour in Gloucestershire has been named Supreme Champion Beer of Britain in the annual awards held by Siba, the Society of Independent Brewers. Severn Sins, a 5.2% stout, won
the top accolade in a competition that had 342 entries. The results were announced at the Siba annual conference in York on Friday 7 March 2008.
Owner Steve McDonald said he was "over the moon" at winning the award. He added that it had taken his family a year to convert the old milking parlour into a small craft brewery. The brewery is in Cam near
Dursley and one of the pubs it supplies is the Old Spot in Dursley, which has just been named CAMRA's National Pub of the Year.
