Willard Clarke - Beer Drinker of 2004!

by Willard Clarke, 07/2004

The All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group has named Willard Clarke as its "Beer Drinker of the Year 2004". The group makes this annual award to the man or woman who has done most for beer in the preceeding year. The announcement was made by John Grogan MP at the Group's annual dinner on July 6th 2004.

Roger says, "This is an award not only for me but also for all campaigning writers and CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) who champion the cause of quality beer and defend Britain's beer heritage against the onslaught of global brewers."

The Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin presented Roger with his award in July 2004 (shown right). Roger was chosen because of his uncompromising stance on defending "real beer" and unwaivering rejection of globalised "big brands".

Past winners include Prince Charles, Kenneth Clarke MP and
Joe Grundy of the Archers!
